Devvrat Yoga Sangha | Yoga Teacher Training course in Kerala

I had been wanting to do a 200 hour teacher training course for a while and finally chose Devvrat Yoga in Varkala this August 2025 -- and it turned out to be the perfect choice. What drew me in was that this place offers both Hatha and Ashtanga yoga under one roof, which is quite rare and exactly what I was seeking. The ambience is truly special, located right on the cliff with a sense of openness and calm that immediately makes you feel grounded. The teaching was exceptional -- the depth of knowledge, years of experience, and genuine passion of the teachers really guided me on a transformative journey. Every class felt thoughtfully structured, balancing discipline with encouragement, and I always left with new insights, both physical and spiritual. Accommodation and food were also beyond my expectations. Such rich and immersive local cuisine. The rooms were comfortable, perfect for rest and reflection, while the meals were nourishing, wholesome, and beautifully prepared -- exactly what I needed for cleansing, detoxing, and supporting my practice. This month at Devvrat Yoga has been so much more than training; it was an experience of growth, healing, and self-reinvention. I feel grateful to have chosen this place, meeting such wonderful people and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic yoga in one of the most beautiful settings in India. I recently completed the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Devvrat and I really enjoyed the entire experience. I learned so much, met many wonderful and inspiring people, and enjoyed delicious food every day. I always felt very comfortable and well taken care of. I joined the 200h Yoga Teacher Training in August and it went far beyond my expectations! From the application to the final day, everyone was welcoming, attentive, and supportive. I started as a beginner, and the training not only deepened my own practice but also gave me solid foundations and the confidence to start teaching! It is four intense full weeks, but absolutely worth it if you want to learn a lot. Everything, from theory to practice, was well structured and exhaustive. Abhi and Gaurav were exceptional yoga teachers, Devvrat's classes were captivating and detailed, and Persia was always supportive and ready to help. On top of this, the food was delicious and generous (almost entirely vegan, which was a big plus for me) and the location is stunning, just a few minutes' walk from the cliff with bars, restaurants, and breathtaking views. Few practical notes and tips if you're planning to join: - Logistic details (airport transfer, ceremony dress code, etc.) are clearly explained in a manual you receive once your application is approved. - Accommodation is basic, but functional (no hot water in the shower, but at 30degC outside you will not need it!). - Remember to bring a type D adapter. - Lovely cats also wander around the property. It was such a transformative journey that, if I could, I would give 10 stars! Thank you all for making this an unforgettable experience and for inspiring me to continue on my yoga journey.

I did 200h YTT in April 2025, it was a rich experience! The classes are well prepared, structured and the teachers know what they do. The teachers are happy and friendly, they made the classes fun and enjoyable with some jokes here and there. The knowledge and experience I got is indescribably positive. The yoga practice will challenge you not only physically but also spiritually, you will get to know yourself on a deeper level. The food is well prepared and fresh. Although I lacked some proteins, so make sure you take e.g. collagen/protein powder/.. with you. I slept in a single bedroom which was clean and cozy, everything I needed was available. If something was lacking or I needed help, the staff immediately provided support. Just communicate with them. Certainly, I recommend Devvrat Yoga!!

After spending a looooot of time browsing yoga teacher trainings in India (Rishikesh, Goa, Kerala, ...) I found it really hard to choose the right one (trust me, there are a lot). I talked to several yoga schools, but intuitively I felt the strongest connection with Devvrat Yoga Sangha and decided to just go for it. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I've made. With basic yoga experience, the training was intensive, especially the Ashtanga classes, but completely doable in the end. We learned everything to start teaching yoga (200 hours YTTC is just the beginning of becoming a teacher imo), but what I found most valuable was how it deepened my own practice. The classes felt serious and high quality, yet also relaxed and open (especially the classes with Abhi and Rahul ). I also loved the separate Ayurveda classes, which felt extra special being in the birthplace of Ayurveda. There were different room options for every budget, which made my group very diverse. I personally loved that. Only minus point was there was no AC, but there was a fan, which did the job. The rooms were just upgraded this month so that was very nice as well. Varkala feels very international and welcoming, and as a solo female traveler, I felt safe the entire time. I now practice yoga on my own, meditate daily, eat more mindfully, and simply see things in a different way. I would totally recommend Devvrat Yoga Sangha to anyone looking for a serious, spiritual, and traditional yoga training, while still enjoying a warm, silly, fun and supportive community. I recently completed my 200hr Teacher Training Course at Devvrat Yoga, and I can truly say it was one of the most informative and transformational experiences of my life. The teachers, Abhi and Gaurav, were exceptionally good. Abhi's Ashtanga practice was deeply transformational for both my mind and body. It was challenging in the best way possible, helping me break fears and barriers I didn't even know I had. Abhi has such an incredible presence--his positive energy, patience, and support meant so much to me throughout the training. He really understands the body and knows exactly how to guide you safely into asanas. Honestly, he is one of the best teachers I've ever had, and I cannot recommend him enough. The food during the course was another highlight. Every day we had delicious, nutritious meals with lots of variety, often dishes from Kerala. I felt healthy, nourished, and strong throughout the training. The Yoga Philosophy classes were eye-opening. They reminded us that yoga is so much more than just the physical postures, and they truly shifted the way I perceive life. I also loved the meditations, especially the ones guided by Santhan. We practiced different techniques that had a real impact on my body and energy. I even learned how to open my chakras, and these are tools I now use every single day in my life. The Anatomy classes were excellent. They gave me a much deeper understanding of body mechanics, how different asanas work, and the effect they have on our systems. This knowledge is not only valuable for my own practice but will also be essential when I start teaching. The sessions on the Art of Teaching & Mechanics of Asana were also extremely useful. We were taught how to adjust and align students safely and effectively, with variations for different body types, levels of flexibility, or injuries. This gave me the confidence and tools I need to share yoga responsibly with others. Some of my absolute highlights were the field trip to Munroe Island, the temple visit, and practicing yoga on the beach with Abhi--all unforgettable experiences. We even had the opportunity to meet with an Ayurvedic doctor for a private consultation, which was such a rare and insightful addition to the course. Choosing the right TTC can feel overwhelming, as there are so many options out there, but I can wholeheartedly say I made the right choice with Devvrat Yoga. I am deeply grateful to have been welcomed into their yoga family and to have shared this journey with such inspiring teachers and fellow students. If you are considering a TTC, I highly recommend this school. It was everything I hoped for and so much more.
