My experience at Rama School with was truly life-changing! Rama is an incredible teacher who goes deep into the details of each asana, ensuring that every movement is performed with proper alignment and understanding. His knowledge and passion for yoga are truly inspiring. The course syllabus was well-structured and engaging. I still can't believe that I started with zero knowledge, and now I feel confident and ready to teach yoga myself! This journey has given me not only the skills but also the inspiration to share this beautiful practice with others. The location of the school, right in front of the beach, made the experience even more special. Practicing yoga while hearing the soothing sound of the waves was simply magical--I will definitely miss it! Exceptional Yoga Experience at Rama School of Yoga, Varkala My recent visit to Rama School of Yoga in Varkala for the 200h Yoga Teacher Training Course in March 2024 left me profoundly impressed with the quality of instruction, the culinary offerings, and the warmth exhibited by the staff. Under the guidance of the skilled instructors (Rama himself for Ashtanga practice, Imansu for Hatha practice), I found myself experiencing yoga in its true essence - a harmonious blend of physical practice, spiritual exploration, and mental well-being. The teaching quality at Rama School of Yoga is exceptional. The instructors possess a deep understanding of yoga asana practice, delivering sessions that are both enlightening and transformative. Their adeptness in catering to individual needs ensures that each student receives personalized attention, fostering a conducive environment for growth and self-discovery. My absolute highlight was the introduction to Ashtanga Yoga. Although I have been practicing yoga for more than 3 years in a regular basis, I never came into touch with Ashtanga in my home country. I experienced Ashtanga as a very challenging practice both for body and mind, but it helped me so much to improve my flexibility and strength, which I'm very grateful for. Thank you Rama! Moreover, the freshly cooked food provided at Rama School of Yoga is a testament to their commitment to holistic well-being. Every meal is thoughtfully prepared. The culinary experience, characterized by its flavorsome offerings and mindful preparation, enhances the overall retreat experience. My highlight was the special lunch which we received during the last days. It was a Thali meal served on banana leafs (see pics). Awesome experience! Additionally, the staff members at Rama School of Yoga are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Their genuine warmth and hospitality create a welcoming atmosphere, making guests feel at home from the moment they arrive. Whether it's attending to queries, arranging accommodations, or simply engaging in conversation, the staff's attentive demeanor adds an extra layer of comfort to the entire experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Rama School of Yoga to anyone seeking an exceptional yoga experience in India!!! It's 100% worth the price and the time you invest into this experience. If I could free up the time in my job, I'd definitely come back for the 300h TTC next time.

Let me tell you that the location of this YTT overrates everything. It is right on a beautiful, empty beach but still with a walking distance to the Varkala centrum. It is fair value for money. You get to train how teach from almost the day one and in the end you get the confidence and knowladge to be able to step in the front and teach. And that may be the goal. The morning hatha is amazing, physically demanding sculpting the body and strenght day by day. Evening Asthanga is first led than mysore style. Safe space for deepening the practice. After a month of practice my body and mind went through amazing transormation. Food is simple, satvic, lacs protein for breakfast and lunch in in my opinion... What about adding paneer? Accomodation is down to earth, but with a nice views. I am happy that for choosing Rama and I am beyond grateful for alll the knowledge and experiences I got. Thank you Rama, Himanshu, Sunil and Angit.

I just finished the 200h YTT at Rama's school in Varkala in November 2023. It's been great experience overall! Rama has the best location in Varkala. Yoga shala is 50m from the sea, we did asanas, pranayama, mediation and also ate by the sea. Often we were lucky to see dolphins Busy turistic cliff is in a very comfortable walk distance, so several times we went for shopping or food there. Every day we did have a swim....or rather jump in the waves. The training and teachers were excellent! Sunil dzi for philosophy is very wise, knowledgeable and also Varkala's celebrity! Bipin's methodology was excellent and so was ashtanga with Rama and anatomy and basics of ayurveda with Dr. Sangeeth. Rama organised several trips with our group to backwaters, waterfall, hill tops and also Jatayu statue and temple. Rama has offered all the support we needed. I really appreciate and admire his patient and wise leadership. All was good, food was good, accommodation too. I can only recommend! Thank you

I spent an amazing month with Rama completing the 200hr yoga teacher training course. The teaching is excellent and I learnt very quickly (my previous yoga experience was very small.) Each day was well structured, starting with Hatha yoga and breathing techniques before a traditional Kerala breakfast. After breakfast we studied yoga philosophy with the wise and inspiring Sunil and then spent the rest of the morning learning about alignment and modification - how to do each asana (pose) and how to correct or modify each one. After lunch and a break we studied anatomy, practiced Ashtanga and then meditated before relaxing over dinner. The course was intense but there was still time to relax and visit nearby places and do trips at weekends (which Rama was happy to arrange for us) The staff at the accommodation, especially the kitchen staff and manager were also very friendly and welcoming.

Practicing with Rama and his team was an amazing experience. All of them dedicated, respectfull and wise teachers. It fullfiled my expectations so far. Enviroment was super nice, the shala with ocean view, the accomodation and the food everything on point. I really suggest taking Rama school if you are looking forward to have a special experience. Hoping to come back one day !

Don't really know where to start, as I had a really bad experience with this yoga school and the owner. the school is situated in a very nice location right by the beach. You will practice yoga with a beautiful sea view. Accommodation: the rooms are in a bad condition. The bathroom was completely dirty when I arrived, the bedsheets had drawings and stains on them. The toilet was dirty and everything was old and in a desolate condition. The matres was from stray and extremely hard. The pillows were covered in mould, there was mould on the walls. I informed Rama about that and all he said was he can't do anything about it. After talking to the staff, the room was cleaned and I got an additional mattress. I was even offered to have the room painted which I refused because I had to sleep in that room. This was my 4th time in India and definitely the worst accomodation I ever had. I wouldn't have minded the acomodation situation, if my complaints had been addressed differently. But Rama did not make any efforts at all to deal with them. He was not welcoming, everything was very chaotic and unorganised and you could feel every second that he didn't care about the students. He didn't even bother to call the 10 people by their name. Confronted with this, he said it was a cultural thing to call everyone ji. After a short discussion it turned out he didn't want to bother learning our names. On the day of arrival, he was absent, just came for the ceremony, hardly gave any information or introduction. Yoga: Rama's classes were okay. Although it was clear we had no sympathy at all for each other he remained professional while he was teaching. Himanshu the Hatha teacher was very young and unprofessional. After a small conflict with the group he simply didn't show up for the class the next day. We were told by Rama that Himanshu was ill but then saw him out at night with his other yoga group. the Hatha classes were mostly practice, little explanations. plus the teacher was late almost every morning and left early for his next class. All in all there is hardly anything good to say about this school besides the nice location. There are plenty of schools here in Varkala, so I would recommend to check out a few of them in person rather than booking online.

I finished my TTC 200 h of yoga in April. It was a great experience that I would have continued. The course took place in an oceanfront resort, in a quiet oasis, just minutes from Varkala cliff. You can do your practice and take a bath during the break. In any case it is not a holiday! But a retreat where you can focus on your practice and make an intense experience of personal change. The teacher Rama is really exquisite, kind, patient and guides you along the way. The course also includes llessons on philosophy, anatomy of yoga and meditation. The food is vegetarian and the cuisine is really delicious. You can also eat raw food, salads, drink fruit extracts. It is suitable for vegans and coeliacs. WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU: - a mosquito net you can use for bed in India is a must :-) - comfortable and light clothing for practice - water bottle - light towel for practice - yoga mat (you can also buy it with 300 rupees in varkala cliff) - a natural painkiller for any need, you can also buy in Ayurvedic pharmacies in the area. ***Pay attention to the ocean because in Varkala there are sometimes strong and unexpected currents even for expert swimmers.
