The Shimoga City Club, formerly known as 'The Shimoga Club,' originally started as a tennis club, came into existence in a tiled roof house in 1924 by a few close associate friends for playing lawn tennis and cards during leisure hours. Its members were drawn from various sectors, including business, traders, professionals, education, government officials, and others. The executive body, from its inception, has been headed by the deputy commissioner of the district.
Earlier, only annual Club Day celebrations took place, but the by-laws of the club were framed in 1958, and thereafter, annual general body meetings have been regularly conducted. Honorary members enjoy privileges such as exemption from contributions,

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Shimoga City Club for accommodation and I truly appreciate its prime location and the beautiful greenery surrounding it. It has great potential to be one of the best clubs in the district.
However, I was quite disappointed with the condition of the rooms. They are poorly maintained, with dust on the windows, unclean bathrooms, and issues like water leakage. These things really take away from the overall experience of staying at such a beautiful property.
I sincerely request the management to look into the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms and facilities, so that members and guests can fully enjoy the wonderful location and atmosphere the club offers.

We stayed at the rooms at the Shimoga City Club and was happy with the space and cleanliness of the rooms. The three bedroom room was really spacious and nice. A good TV, hot water supply by geysers in all rooms, and can't comment much on the food as we didn't try any of the food at the club.
Ample Parking space available and courteous and helpful staff.
Centrally located and an ideal place to stay while at Shimoga.

I was going there on every Tuesday and Friday because on these two days they were preparing Chicken Biriyani which was very tasty.wonderful bar with high chair.alcohol and food is also served outside on the lawns.highly decent place.Very very clean cutlery and glasses.Food as well as alcohol is cheap because this is a club. Here other facility such as Gym, tennis, shuttle cock is there.Families are not coming to this place. They prefer to go to CITY CLUB ANNEX WHICH Is also good. In the ANNEX swimming pool is there. Food is very very tasty here.
